The New Zealand Translation Centre has been operating more than 30 years and provide translation and interpreting services for New Zealand, as well as overseas clients. Have you thought of becoming a professional interpreter? There is a great demand for interpreting services across legal, medical and community areas in all languages. Perhaps you have some time during the day that you could help as a freelance contractor. The work is flexible and you can choose to take any assignment offered to you. New Zealand is becoming more culturally diverse than ever before. From the data of Statistics New Zealand 2018, Samoan is the largest language speaking population among all non-official languages. This is followed by Mandarin, Hindi, French and Cantonese. It states that 77% people speak one language, 17% speak two languages and 3.1% people speak three to five languages. If this sounds like something you would like to learn more about, we would like to invite you to join our free interpreting introduction session. This is going to be held online on Zoom and is aimed at people who are interested in becoming a professional interpreter and/or multilingual speakers who are seeking more job opportunities. The session will be two hours and will cover the interpreter Code of Ethics and general court interpreting procedures.
