MULTI-LINGUAL ROADMAP NZTC Event/Presentation update
NZTC directors Hagen Issell and Patrick King recently hosted and presented a very relevant and informative session to some of our clients in Wellington. The event was hosted in conjunction with the Technical Communicators’ Association of New Zealand (TCANZ) and Write Limited.
To give you a brief insight into our session: we talked about the challenges and the analytical skills a translator may need, especially when deciphering badly structured sentences or sentences loaded with jargon – which is a common occurrence for our team. Of course, many handy tips were also provided to attendees.
The session also covered some of the things an organisation must consider when assessing what, how or whether to translate. These touched on the ‘written versus spoken comprehension’ of New Zealanders, machine translation vs human translation, translation quality certification systems, the ‘engineer vs writer’ debate, and also tips to reduce your translation costs.
If you missed this, don’t worry, NZTC will be hosting a number of very similar events in between March and July 2015, in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, New Zealand. Please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in attending one of our next sessions.
