Happy Chinese New Year!

This week is the start of the Chinese New Year celebrations which start on the day before the New Year in the lunisolar in the Chinese calendar and culminate on the 15th day of the New Year with the Lantern Festival.

Each year is characterised by one of 12 animals making up the Chinese zodiac.  Last year was the year of the sheep and this year is the year of the monkey.  People born in the Year of the Monkey are characterised as lively, quick-witted, curious, innovative and mischievous, but it is also believed to be one of the most unlucky years in the Chinese calendar. It is considered that their gentleness and honesty bring them an enviable love life, and although they were born with admirable skills, they still have several shortcomings, such as an impetuous temper and a tendency to look down upon others.
