Zhimin Yu

Chinese Translator, Head of Chinese Department

A native of Beijing, People’s Republic of China, Zhimin had wide experience in the machine tool manufacturing and tourism industries in China before emigrating to New Zealand in 1985.
Zhimin has also had a long career as a professional Chinese translator in a very wide range of subject areas, including technical, legal and tourism-related texts. He joined NZTC’s team of linguists in 1989. Thanks to his ability in and dedication to translating Western ideas into Chinese, Zhimin today heads NZTC’s busy Chinese Department.
About his work, Zhimin says, ‘I love the fact that I still get to learn new things every day – even after over 20 years in the business.’
