Stefan was born in the south of France and raised bilingually (French and German) by his parents. He further broadened his language skills in the course of a one-year visit to the United States and work stints at the RATP (the operator of the Paris Metro) and the European Investment Bank.
After completing his Masters degree in Translation, he moved to New Zealand, where he joined NZTC in 2008.
Today, Stefan heads NZTC’s French Department where his duties include translations from German and English into French, proof-reading translations done by external linguists and assessing test translations.
Known for his keen sense of humour, Stefan says, ‘NZTC is a cultural potluck (and yes, we do have international food days!). Where else can you work side by side with a Swede, a few Germans, a Colombian, an Italian, three Chinese, Japanese and Irish people, a Brit and the odd Kiwi, and speak three to five languages a day? It’s nice to be a static traveller… at work.’
