Séamus O’Cromtha

Translator and Editor for German and French

A native of Northern Ireland, Séamus laid the foundations for his long-standing career in languages at Queen’s University Belfast, where he gained a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in German and French.

After spending 15 years working in Munich, Germany, initially as an EFL teacher and director and later as a translator in the reinsurance sector, Séamus emigrated to New Zealand in 1995. There, he returned to his EFL teaching roots before joining NZTC’s team of linguists in 2000.

Séamus is based in Christchurch in New Zealand’s South Island. About his job, he says: ‘Working from home, I sometimes miss not having personal contacts with work colleagues, but I have to say it’s perfect for the purposes of concentrating on translation.’
