NZ Society of Translators and Interpreters (NZSTI)
NZTC is heavily involved in supporting NZSTI events and professional development initiatives. Patrick King, NZTC’s Chief Editor, is the Vice President of NZSTI.
Australian National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI)
While NZTC’s translator qualification and testing standards exceed those required for NAATI Accreditation, many NZTC staff and external translators also hold NAATI qualifications, which can be a requirement when submitting translations for official use in Australia.
Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT)
NZTC and our Australian Service Division are regular sponsors of AUSIT events, such as the AUSIT annual conference. We provide SDL Trados product information and translation technology advice to Australasian translation practitioners.
Australasian Association of Language Companies (AALC)
The Australasian Association of Language Companies Inc. is an organisation formed to promote the interests of language service providers in Australia and New Zealand. The AALC speaks with authority and credibility on behalf of its members on policy and commercial issues. NZTC's marketing director, Hagen Issell currently serves as Vice President, New Zealand.
Technical Communicators Association of NZ (TCANZ)
Since NZTC specialises in the translation of technical communications, it’s only natural that we support the technical communications industry. This includes sponsorship of the TCANZ annual conference, where we also run workshops on translation and multilingual content management
Australian Online Documentation and Content (AODC)
NZTC is increasingly involved in online translations of client documentation and content, which is why our New Zealand and Australian service divisions support the AODC and sponsor AODC conferences.
Software NZ (NZSA)
NZTC attends events that help us keep abreast of issues affecting New Zealand’s software industry and provide advice and support on software-related translation issues to NZSA members. NZTC has also run localisation workshops for NZSA members in Auckland and Christchurch.
NZTC attends Auckland ICT industry presentations and networking events to keep in contact with and assist New Zealand developers and exporters of ICT products.
New Zealand’s Canterbury region has a thriving ICT sector. NZTC is a regular participant in local industry meetings and at the annual software symposium in Christchurch.
Export New Zealand
Export NZ helps New Zealand companies get started in exporting, and NZTC supports the organisation’s efforts, for instance by regularly attending Export NZ functions. NZTC won the Export NZ Services Exporter Award in 2007.
Chambers of Commerce
NZTC is a member of the Auckland and Wellington Chambers of Commerce and regularly attends Chamber events promoting international trade and exporting.
NZTC regularly attends Localisation World conferences in Berlin and Seattle to ensure we are up to date with the latest industry trends and technology. See our News page for our reports on recent conferences.
Globalisation and Localisation Association (GALA)
GALA assists with collaboration and communication between companies involved in globalisation and localisation. NZTC regularly participates in GALA workshops at the Localisation World conferences.
American Translators Association (ATA)
NZTC attends translation industry association conferences in North America on a regular basis to keep abreast of industry developments and to maintain our service competitiveness through international benchmarking.
Associated Language Companies (ALC)
NZTC attends ALC conferences around the world on a regular basis to keep abreast of industry developments and to maintain our service competitiveness through international benchmarking.
European Language Companies (ELC)
As above, NZTC attends ELC conferences in Europe, the most recent in Bulgaria, to keep up with the development of European standards, such as the EN Standard 15038 for Translation Services.
